Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

A senior official said the attack left him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
