In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden sect.

The adventure concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Metamorphoses

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This update also introduces the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
